Belgian National Decade Committee & VLIZ Philanthropy 'The Sea as a Good Cause' 

In the framework of The 7th World Conference on Marine Biodiversity, The Sea as a Good Cause - VLIZ and The secretariat of the National Decade Committee for Belgium have awarded participation grants to promising early career marine scientists. Through these grants, young marine researchers are offered the hands-on and in-depth experience of the conference.  

• 4 grants were awarded to ECOPs from the Global South of whom the supervisor is known within the network of the WCMB scientific committee,
• 4 grants were awarded to ECOPs active at institutes related to VLIZ by its international collaborations, and
• 2 grants were awarded to WoRMS editors from the Global South.

The selection has been made based on the motivation letter, presence of the letter of consent and active participation because of an accepted abstract which allows you to give an oral or a poster presentation.
